“…he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus”
(Philippians 1:6, NIV)

Sometimes when God is doing a work in our lives, it can begin to feel a little uncomfortable. We may encounter people who are hard to get along with or have circumstances that seem beyond our control. When this happens, instead of complaining, getting sour or trying to change everything around you, why don’t you look deep inside and say, “Lord, thank You for doing a work in me.” See, I’ve learned that God is more interested in changing me than He is in changing my circumstances. If I choose to stay sour because I’m not getting my way or discouraged because things aren’t happening on my time table, that’s going to keep me right where I am.

If you want to see change, if you want to see God open up new doors, the key is to bloom right where you’re planted. You can’t wait until everything gets better before you decide to have a good attitude. You have to be the best that you can be right where you are. When you bloom where you’re planted, you’re allowing God to work in you, and He will be faithful to complete what He’s started in you!

10 Bible Verses to Honor Mom on Mother’s Day

1.) Proverbs 31:10-12 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. *

Children, give your mother examples of how she has blessed you by being the woman described in this passage.

2.) Proverbs 31:26-31 “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many woman do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive , and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. *

Has your mother always been there for you? Supported you through life’s ups and downs? This is the verse to begin your tribute to her steadfastness.

3.) 2 Kings 4:30 But the child’s mother said, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So he got up and followed her.*

Were you a difficult child recently or when you were younger. This verse is a great introduction to a heartfelt apology for your ‘foolish behavior’.

4.) Proverbs 10:1 A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.*

Tell your mother how she taught you empathy by modeling God’s love with her own gentle, giving spirit.

5.) Isaiah 66:13 “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” *

Would your mother be thrilled to know you are proud to be her daughter, and hope to be ‘just like her’? This verse says it all.

6.) Ezekiel 16:44 ‘Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this one about you: “Like mother like daughter.”’ *

Let your mother know you are honored to be made by God through her.

7.) Psalm 139:13 for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.*

Let someone know they are honored as John honored Jesus by caring for his mother. This is the perfect verse for stepmother’s or grandmothers who share your home.

8.) John 19:26-27 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.” *

Is mom far away on this special day?

9.) Genesis 31:49b “May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.” *

Finally , a few verses that offer a blessing, just in time for Mother’s Day and your “World’s greatest Mom.”

10.) Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”*

I kinda miss the bond we shared. I mean, who wouldn’t miss that comfortable feeling with a person? Where we could talk for hours about everything, anything, and not have a problem with the silence in the middle. Can’t forget all the ridiculous stuff we did. Stupid or not, everything was just so fun. Endless nights, real talks, the “remember whens”, I remember it all. And it’s funny what life does, how it could just give you things and take it away so soon. I really can’t get it out of my head that you grow distant from people and that good things come to an end sooner or later. But along the way, I learned one good thing about life; it goes on, you just gotta pick yourself up and learn to keep up.
